UGA sophomore Kyanna Simone Simpson may find herself being recognized on campus in the coming weeks thanks to a role in the HBO film adaptation of best-selling book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.

Dr. Tina Harris, a professor in the communication studies department in UGA’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, is this year’s recipient of the Engaged Scholar Award.

The department held its Spring 2017 Public Speaking Contest on April 19.  Seven fabulous speakers hand-chosen by their instructors took to the stage in front of an audience of more than 200 faculty, students, friends, and family.

The Georgia Debate Union just concluded its 2016-17 season and it can be considered a huge success.

In the end of the year rankings, the Georgia Debate Union finished ranked 3rd, 7th, and 8th amongst the college policy debate organization rankings.  

The University of Georgia Magazine recently interviewed communication's major Danielle Smith, recipient of the Shaw-White Family scholarship. Danielle says that "With this scholarship, I feel like people believe in me.
