Distinguished Research Professor Celeste Condit will be giving a keynote address at the Scandinavian Rhetoric Society conference on September 27, 2017. The address, entitled “Making Angry Public Rhetorics Work Better for Us,” builds upon Dr. Condit's earlier research on pathos and will take up the subject of her forthcoming book titled 9/11’s Angry Public Rhetorics. The conference, which will take place September 27-29 at Aarhus University in Denmark, is the 6th such meeting of the Scandinavian Rhetoric Society and has as its theme Rhetoric//Senses//Emotions. Dr. Condit's invitation to give her keynote address noted that "[her] research in pathos seems essential to the Scandinavian discussions." In addition to Dr. Condit's address, keynote addresses will be given by Debra Hawhee, McCourtney Professor of Civic Deliberation at Pennsylvania State University, and James Phelan, Distinguished University Professor of English at The Ohio State University.
