Image: During the COVID-19 pandemic, journalists, health officials and politicians have struggled to communicate transparently about uncertainty. In a new paper published in the flagship communication journal Annals of the ICA, Dr. Chelsea Ratcliff and her graduate student coauthors Rebekah Wicke and Blue Harvill reviewed the current literature on uncertainty and COVID-19. Their work identified limited evidence to guide communication approaches and a need to better understand how public audiences navigate uncertainty in pandemic contexts.
