Communication Studies undergraduate Jacob Mewborn receives recognition for his publication in the most recent edition of The Classic. Mr. Mewborn's article is titled “‘Chinese Virus’: A Metaphorical Analysis of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”, and can be read here. The essay provides a critical perspective on President Donald Trump's rhetoric surrounding COVID-19, and the consequences of racialized messaging regarding the pandemic. The Classic Journal is the Writing Intensive Program’s journal of undergraduate writing and research, dedicated to showcasing critical analysis and exemplary writing among UGA undergraduates.
