Image: The UGA Department of Communication Studies wishes to congratulate Dr. Jiaying Liu, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies, on her selection for UGA’s prestigious Lilly Teaching Fellows program! Now in its 33rd year at UGA, the Lilly Teaching Fellows program is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of junior faculty development and engagement on campus. Competition for the ten positions in the 2018-2020 cohort was quite intense, with a plethora of talented applicants representing a wide range of academic interests. Dr. Liu will join nine other Lilly Fellows representing eight different colleges at UGA. In his letter inviting Dr. Liu to join the 2018-2020 Lilly Fellows cohort, the Center for Teaching and Learning Lilly Teaching Fellows Director, Dr. Steven P. Lewis, wrote, “All of [the 2018-2020 Fellows] are emerging as excellent scholars and instructors with a keen interest in expanding [their] capabilities and broadening [their] experiences.” Dr. Liu is one of the Department of Communication Studies’s newest members, joining the faculty in the Fall of 2017. In her short time here, she has excelled in research, teaching, and service. In addition to being selected as a 2018-2020 Lilly Teaching Fellow, Dr. Liu was recently awarded a Faculty Excellence Award by the Department of Communication Studies’ graduate student association. This award is given annually to a faculty member in the department deemed by the graduate student body to have been especially committed to student (and especially graduate student) instruction and advisement. Again, congratulations to Dr. Liu on her outstanding work!
