The Georgia Debate Union at the University of Georgia ranked fifth in the nation at the close of the 2015-16 season of the American Debate Association.

The recent Undergraduate Research Colloquium had a full docket, including the presentation of this year’s Faculty Excellence Award, the Olive M. Cone Episcopal Scholarship Award, Undergraduate Research Presentations, and the Lambda Pi Eta Induction Ceremony.

Heather Cohen recently completed all requirements for the Masters Degree in Communication Studies. She will stay on at the university as an accelerated PhD student focused on interpersonal and health communication.

Mikaela Malsin successfully defended her dissertation on April 25, 2016. The dissertation is entitled, "Three Decades of Tinkering with the Machinery of Death: A Rhetorical History of the Supreme Court's Death Penalty Jurisprudence." Congratulations again, Mikaela!

The president of the Georgia Debate Union, junior Tucker Boyce from Alpharetta, recently won a study tour to France thanks to his outstanding performance at the 2016 Lafayette Debates at George Washington University, held on April 16-17 in the nation's capital.
