She teaches interpersonal communication, Honors interpersonal communication, business and professional communication, and small group communication. Her small group students, working in teams, have raised thousands of dollars and performed hundreds of hours of service for local charitable organizations. She earned her M.S. degree at Illinois State University and her Ph.D. in Communication Theory at Ohio University (1993). Dr. Schaller has been a course director for public speaking, interpersonal communication, business and professional communication, and freshman seminar courses. She previously taught at Illinois State University, Ohio University, Indiana University, Georgia State University, and the University of Hawaii. Dr. Schaller enjoys learning about and practicing the dynamics of teacher-student interaction, and emphasizes the practical application of communication principles in her classes. Kristi Schaller received a fellowship from the Office of Online Learning to develop an online version of our COMM 1500 (Introduction to Interpersonal Communication) course. She taught the course in Summer 2016 and 2017. Dr. Schaller also received a fellowship from the Office of Service-Learning to enhance her COMM 3600S (Introduction to Small Group Communication) course, which includes a team service-learning project.
