Prior to enrolling at the University of Georgia, Allison earned her B.S. in Mass Media and Journalism at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania with minors in Communication Studies and Political Science. She earned her M.A. at San Diego State University in Communication Studies. Her research lies in the rhetorical problematics of governance, which allows her to study the intersections of rhetoric, the state, and the public good. Her work currently focuses on the problematics of the American Opioid Epidemic and the biopolitical value of human life. Allison's paper, "Mimesis and the Basic Public Speaking Course," won the Dr. Lawrence W. Hugenberg Top Student Paper Award in the Basic Course Division at the National Communication Association Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, in November 2018.
