Image: Communication Studies Ph.D. student Allison Worsdale has been named a Franklin Foundation Neuroimaging Fellow! The Franklin Foundation supports two graduate student research fellows each year while providing students with the coursework and research experience to learn functional brain imaging techniques such as dense array EEG, MEG, and MRI/fMRI. Fellows are also provided with funding for research projects and travel and will learn from nationally recognized experts in functional brain imaging. Allie's research focuses on young adult LGBTQ subjects who engage in vaping and tobacco use behaviors. This fellowship will allow her to better understand the neurocognitive mechanisms of tobacco use trajectories and identify neurobehavioral markers of risk for young LGBTQ vapers, with the goal of reducing sexual and gender disparities in tobacco harm.
