Undergraduate Communication Studies major Mona Abboud has been named as the winner of the 2021 Olive M. Cone Episcopal Scholarship. The Cone Scholarship recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of the awardee with a tuition scholarship. Mona Abboud has maintained a 4.0 GPA and been a Presidential Scholar during the past five semesters in a row. In addition, Mona has used her communication studies education for a variety of impressive extracurricular pursuits, including writing a column in the Red and Black, where she weighs in on politics, economics and social justice topics, and presiding over the UGA chapter of Amnesty International for the past two years. She has also interned at organizations such as Politics 4.0 Games and the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and runs her own fashion business called "Streak of Chic". These accomplishments establish Mona Abboud not only as a worthy recipient of the Cone Award, but also as an impressive scholar of communications.
