CommDawg Jarryd Wallace (Class of 2019) was recently named a member of the UGA 2020 class of 40 under 40. This designation means that Jarryd aspires to uphold the principles manifested in the three Pillars of the Arch, demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with UGA and has made an impact in his professional and philanthropic endeavors. Jarryd is a professional athlete and director of the Affordable Blade Project. Since he began competing in Paralympics, he has won a gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the ParaPan American Games, and won three World Championship titles, breaking the world record four times. The high cost of running prosthetics and lack of coverage from insurance companies led him to start a nonprofit in 2012, with a goal to help individuals gain access to running devices. The Communication Studies department is proud to recognize Jarryd Wallace for these fantastic accomplishments. Type of News/Audience: Alumni
